Heaven is the Text

I was traveling home yesterday from Colorado and read this from Donald Coggan on the plane. It so touched me.

Listen to these words.

“For most Christians heaven is envisaged as a kind of postscript , an appendix to a book of which life on earth constitutes the actual text. But the contrary is true. Our earthly life is merely the preface to the book. Life in heaven will be the text…a text without end”

Wow….heaven is the text!

It’s So Personal I Felt I Should Not Have Been Reading It

After reading “A GRIEF OBSERVED” by CS Lewis, I put the book down and felt that I was reading a man’s private journal that was not meant for me. In the introduction, Lewis says it was his private thoughts and he never meant for these thoughts to become a book, but later he acquiesced and let it go to print.  What you are reading is  probably the “rawest” Lewis you could ever read.  It’s not really a book but his journal after his wife’s death, Joy Davidman.

Way Before She Died, Ruth Graham Knew What She Wanted On Her Headstone

I love what Ruth Graham made her family put on her gravestone long before she was bedridden.

She was driving one day and entered into a construction zone on the highway.

When she reached the end, the sign said….

“END OF CONSTRUCTION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE”

That was it!

That is what she wanted and that is what she had chiseled onto her headstone long before she needed it.

And this is true of all of us as we grow to be like Jesus.

We are all one big construction zone but one day it will be the end of the construction and then….

“WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS “  (I John 3:2)
