We have an information overload today of not just secular information but also Christian. You can download and watch any preacher and any church instantly. I grew up in a time where there were no cassettes, CDs, MP3s and podcasts. Today, you can have the latest sermon minutes after the final amen. There is nothing wrong with that unless it is REPLACING INSTEAD OF ENHANCING.
There are a number of books by AW Tozer that have affected my life. One of those is “THE SET THE SAIL”
The whole thesis of the book is to make sure you SAIL AND DON’T DRIFT.
Here is what Tozer says from the beginning…
“Sail, Don’t Drift : I find the greatest thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind, and sometimes against it, but we sail, and not drift, nor live at anchor.”
Then Tozer speaks a foreign language to us today.
It is a language that we ministers don’t hear and don’t practice enough , if not at all.
Read his words….they are profound, they are simple and they are convicting. Even at the end Tozer turns doctor and tells you how to get rid of ulcers.

Cursing preachers don’t shock me nor impress me. Actually, I’m saddened for them. There is a trend that is happening more and more that pastors and christians think that cursing in the presence of other christians is okay. In fact, it’s becoming shockingly accepted.
There is a revelation that happens when I hear it.
I’m not even speaking about the pulpit cursers (that’s a whole other conversation) . I’m referring to everyday Starbucks conversations. This so called freedom to use language that I forbid my children to ever use, is ever growing and I hear it. So do I tell my children that I don’t want you using these words now but when you get older there will come a time you are allowed. How insane is that?
It still puzzles me how comfortable Christians are to curse in normal conversation. And it’s grieving when I hear pastors curse among pastors.

The words of Jonathan Edwards , the great revivalist, stand true today in our information saturated church age: “The task of every generation is to discover in which direction the Sovereign Redeemer is moving, then move in that direction”
We are trying to find direction for our church and our ministry through conferences, books and other leaders. And none of these means has your answer for your local church or the ministry that you are in charge of.
