Remember the days of school and pulling an “all night-er” for a test or exam or paper?
The coffee was flowing and you were looking for all night diners and coffee shops.
It was called cramming.
I want to show you a very surprising Person that pulled an “all night-er”….it was God.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO PART THE RED SEA?
Sounds like a silly question.
But I think there is more here than trivia.
There is an interesting phrase in Exodus 14:21, the night God parted the Red Sea.
It seems that the parting of the Red Sea was not done in seconds like portrayed by Hollywood. I can see in my mind Charlton Heston standing with the staff in his hand and the waters parting in a moment so that the almost 4 hour movie can come to it’s climax and close.
But the Bible does not say what Cecil B. DeMille portrays. Now grant it , I know it’s a movie but let’s see what the Bible says.
It says here “all night”. An “all night” parting of the waters.
Could this have been an all night process to protect ocean life? I don’t know the ramifications of parting an ocean. I don’t have that on my resume.
It could be but I think there is another reason
God could have done it in a second but He chose to do AN ALL NIGHTER!
Maybe, just maybe He wanted all 3 million of the newly freed people to see it personally.
The bottom line is that not everyone has box seats, there is just too many people. You have to be up close.
Maybe they were taking turns getting up close watching the parting and the dividing of the waters, so that no one got it by hearsay but they all became eyewitnesses that night of one of Israel’s greatest moments.
I think the last verse may speak to what I am getting to in Exodus 14:31
“And when Israel saw the great power which the Lord had used against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in His servant Moses.”
God can do stuff fast. But sometimes He will do an ALL NIGHTER. He is wanting everyone to see and there be no mistake that “this is God.” So the next time God takes longer than you expected, don’t get upset, He may just be getting more people involved to see His handiwork.
